CASTLETHORPE FIRST SCHOOL CURRICULUM
The school was first opened by Lord Carrington in 1891 and although the building is almost 118 years old the school has undergone many internal and external refurbishments. We are very fortunate to be able to use the village hall for our PE lessons, the village playing fields for sports day and the church for our Harvest, Christmas and end of year celebrations
We currently have 3 year groups, catering for children between the ages of 4 and 7 with an adult pupil ratio of approximately 1:8.
There are two well-equipped classrooms, each with its own IT resources, interactive whiteboard and cloakroom.
In the morning sessions, children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and pupils in year 1 work together, while year 2 pupils are taught separately. In the afternoons, the EYFS children are taught separately, while year 1 and 2 pupils are combined. Although the children work in different groups the curriculum is planned around a whole school topic each term or half term enabling the whole school to have a similar focus for activity days, visits and visitors.
