LATEST NEWS FROM CASTLETHORPE FIRST SCHOOL

Harvest Festival

The combined amount raised from both churches and school was in excess of £700

Castlethorpe church once again opened its doors to the village for the schools annual Harvest Festival on 22nd September. This year's Harvest Festival took as its theme scarecrows.

The foundation and year one children had great fun making their own miniature scarecrows on sticks before working together to make one full size, rather friendly looking scarecrow, to join us in the church for the service.

The older children took the story of ‘Tattybogle', the scarecrow who stands all through the year until the autumn winds blow him away before he turns into a tree the following spring. They used the story to make their own version, which they then brought to life for the parents and visitors.

A collection was made at the end of the service and the sum in excess of £700 was then sent off by Father Gary Ecclestone, on our behalf, to Farm Africa, a charity which supports African families to purchase their own livestock etc and so become self -sufficient.
