At Castlethorpe First School, we are committed to fostering a whole school culture that prioritises the personalised learning needs of Looked After Children (LAC) and Previously Looked After Children (PLAC). We recognise that these pupils require tailored support to address their personal, emotional, and academic needs effectively.
Looked After Children (LAC) are defined as those who are in the care of a Local Authority (LA) or provided with accommodation by the LA for a continuous period exceeding 24 hours. Previously Looked After Children (PLAC) are those who have transitioned from care due to a child arrangements order, a special guardianship order, or an adoption order.
We strive to work collaboratively with families, social workers, and the Virtual School to create an environment that emphasises stability, safety, and individual care. This partnership is essential in ensuring that LAC and PLAC receive the attention and support necessary for their holistic development.
